Girl’s Night**
My best friend, Brittnee is leaving for vacation in 2 days and she wants me to come to Tyler with her tonight for a “girl’s night”. Basically we are getting pedicures and most likely dining out. Yes, dining out– WHAT DO I DO??!?!
I want to eat something good, but what is there and how much is not too much? I feel stupid asking the servers what is healthy because they usually don’t know and I should know these things. Restaurant portions are usually way bigger than what is healthy so I am confused as what to order and how much.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()
Eating out can be tricky. Don’t feel silly asking any questions to the servers, that’s what they are there for. I try and stick to the dishes with grilled chicken or fish with steamed vegies(no butter), and baked potatoes instead of fries. I always ask if they can use olive oil instead of butter or other oils.
If I’m still unsure, I’ll just eat half my serving and leave the rest or take it home for another meal. Or I just order a salad with grilled chicken or shrimp and the dressing on the side with no cheese.
ok…dont panic… its a servers job to answer your questions about what’s in your food. People with special dietary needs have to do that all the time. And because you’re watching what you eat… then you have special dietary needs.
Choose grilled or broiled over pan fried or baked.
Ask for your sauce on the side.
Avoid cream based sauces and go for tomatoe based instead.
Ask to have cheese put on the side so you can add a bit yourself for taste if you want.
When you get your plate of food, half it immediately. Either ask your waiter to put that half aside for you for later, or contaminate it in some way that you wont eat it! Or even better, ask your server to put half the portion in a take-away for you, even before it makes it to the table.
My doctor also told me, to make a decision between having a main course when you go out, or having a dessert…but never the 2 together.
Hope this helps!
